Food Fair

Our Monthly Food Fair continues during COVID-19
The Food Fair continues on the third Saturday of each month. The Care Center continues to serve our neighbors in need of food during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are taking extra steps to protect volunteers, staff, and the neighbors we serve. Food distribution will take place outside, with people served from their vehicles from start to finish. Volunteers are required to wear masks, gloves, to wash hands frequently, and remain at a distance from each other. Thank you for supporting our community through this challenging time.
Every third Saturday of the month, Ford Bend Care Center partners with Second Mile to distribute about 10,000 pounds of food to more than 100 families in need.
We mainly provide fresh fruits and vegetables, along with some grocery items to offer nutrition beyond canned and dry food items.
Examples of produce we typically distribute may include: watermelon, bananas, pineapples, tangerines, honeydew, carrots, onions, yams, potatoes, cabbage, bell peppers, or lettuce.
How It Works
On the food fair morning, people will first check in and register. After registering, we usually offer a short program with a message and a prayer time for anyone who has prayer requests. Volunteers divide the food into portions and help load it into people's cars.
Volunteers
Food Fair needs about 40 volunteers each time to help facilitate the day, provide prayer ministry, and sort food. Volunteers are asked to be there from 9am-12noon. Small groups or fellowships are especially encouraged to sign up.
